Overview: the bedroom is the most important room in feng shui – you spend a third of your life here. Three rules cover 90% of it: solid headboard wall, bed off the door line, no mirror facing the bed.
Bed Placement: The Four Checks
1. Command position. Headboard against a solid wall, diagonal from the door – you see the door without being in its line.
2. Headboard wall. Never against a bathroom or kitchen wall – pipes and moisture behind the head.
3. Beam and fan. Nothing heavy or rotating directly above the sleeper.
4. Mirror. No mirror reflecting the bed.
Common Mistakes
- Bed under a window (unstable support behind the head)
- Bed against the same wall as the door (qi rushes along the wall)
- Storage under the bed blocking airflow
Room Checklist
Solid wall behind headboard; bed visible-from-door but not aligned; clear floor under bed if possible; soft lighting on dimmers; no work desk facing the bed; door closed at night.
