Overview: the kitchen governs health and wealth in classical feng shui – the stove is the wealth furnace. Two relationships matter most: stove versus sink, and the dining table shape.
Stove and Sink
Water and fire clash when directly facing each other. Do not place the stove and sink in a straight opposition line. If fixed, place a green plant or a wooden board between them to bridge the elements. Adjacent on the same counter is fine – it is the face-to-face line that clashes.
Stove Placement
Cook should face the door (command position again): never cook with your back fully to the entrance. A mirror behind the stove is the classical cure for a reversed stove – it visually restores the door view.
Dining Table
Round or oval tables circulate qi evenly; square is fine if not cramped. Avoid a table directly under a beam. Keep the table surface clear between meals – a permanently cluttered table symbolizes neglected nourishment.
Checklist
No sink-stove opposition; cook faces door; fridge and oven not adjacent (another fire-water pair); table clear; bin hidden.
